A forest is an endless source of adventure and wonder, especially when it’s a peri-urban one. How many trees, plants, animals, and birds can thrive so close to a large city? The richness within is astounding.
We go there seeking silence, yet we find ourselves surrounded by sound. The forest speaks.
This series began after a massive storm brought down many old-growth trees. It allowed for a close look at these fallen giants, revealing their vulnerability, but also their immense dignity and sensuality—almost reminiscent of Venus in ancient paintings.
The photos trace a path through various environments: the orderly and majestic, the water, bare trees in winter, the lush green canopy of summer, and my favourite—the chaotic thicket where trees grow so densely that shadows conceal mysteries. The forest casts its spell.
It’s an evocative journey, where the concept is suggested and not said, where the invitation to ecological consciousness is whispered rather than declared. The environmental changes are not presented directly; instead, they linger as an undercurrent, urging us to seek our deep connection with the forest and an awareness of its fragility.
I invite the viewer to walk through this forest, searching for our deep connection with it, to listen, to wonder, and to feel.
